Licensed Betting Office Fair Deal Rules.

Preface

The aim of these rules is to provide a fair and open framework for the settlement of bets within betting shops. However, customers should be aware that in a competitive market, by their very nature independent bookmakers invariably make individual offers and concessions which differ firm by firm. Details of individual concessions offered by this Company can be found in sections 39 and 40.

  1. Introduction

The purpose of these rules is to detail the terms and conditions under which bets are accepted. Also detailed are the type of bets accepted, maximum winnings and guidance on how bets which are ambiguously worded, mis-staked or contain errors will be settled. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is familiar with these rules. As a Company we aim to resolve all disputes at a local level, but where agreement cannot be reached the dispute can be referred to the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS). Details of this service are given in Section 36.

  1. Events On Which Bets Are Accepted

  1. Horse Racing.

Bets are accepted for horse race meetings held under the rules of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority (HRA), The Irish Turf Club or their equivalent bodies abroad provided that, in each case, the racecard is published in the Racing Post.

  1. Greyhound Racing

Bets are accepted for all Bookmakers Afternoon Greyhound Service (BAGS) meetings, and all other meetings for which the racecard is published in the Racing Post.

  1. Football

Bets are accepted on domestic football as follows: English Premier League, Championship, Leagues 1 and 2, Conference National Division, Scottish Premier League, Scottish Divisions 1,2 and 3 and cup matches involving teams from these divisions. Also accepted are bets on Internationals, Champions League, UEFA Cup, and the major top flight European Leagues: Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Eredivisie, Serie A and Primera Divison.

  1. Other Sports/Special Event Betting.

Bets are accepted for all sporting events and special events where they are specifically advertised by the Company. Eg: Boxing, Cricket, Darts, Golf, Rugby, Snooker, Tennis etc. Bets will be settled in accordance with the special rules issued for such events.

  1. Numbers Betting.

Bets are accepted on the Irish National Lotto draw (3 Draws every Wednesday and Saturday), Irish Lotto Monday Million draw, 49’s (Drawn twice daily), Rapido and Virtual Racing (events daily).

Bets inadvertently accepted for any event not covered in the sections above will be declared void win or lose, unless authorised in writing by the office manager.

  1. Maximum Winnings.

  1. Syndicate Betting.

A bet is accepted on the basis that it is an investment of one customer only. Maximum payout limits apply to any customer or group of customers acting together who have backed the same selection or combination of selections, including when placed in a series of bets, at a range of prices, over a number of days, or at different branches. Should we have reason to believe that a number of bets have been placed in this way, the total payment of all those bets combined will be limited to one single maximum payout.

B. Multiple Bets

In multiple bets which contain events with different maximum limits, the lowest limit will apply.

The following are the maximum amounts that may be won (excluding stake) by any one customer in any one day’s betting regardless of stake. These maximums will apply even if by taking prices the level of potential return exceeds these amounts.

Where reference is made to “coverage by the full LBO service”, that is to say the event is transmitted live with both pictures and audio service within the betting office.

GENERAL

4.Acceptance Of Bets

All bets are deemed to be for events taking place that day unless stipulated otherwise. Bets are to be written on a betting slip and handed to a member of staff along with the full stake. Mark sense slips may also be used for certain bets. A betting slip constitutes a record of payment. It is not a contract. The contract arises when a bet is placed on a market offered on an event and the bet is not void under the terms of these rules.

  1. In shops which operate an EPOS system, the slip will be scanned and a copy containing a unique bet number and an image of the original bet will be issued to the customer. In order to be valid the bet number and image must be registered on the EPOS system and printed on the receipt.

  2. In non-EPOS shops the betting slip will be rung up on a till and the top copy immediately photographed through a security camera with timer. The customer will be issued the duplicate copy which will include the bet number, stake, time accepted, and date placed.

Bets are only valid when transacted in accordance with a) or b) as detailed above. All bets that do not comply with this rule will be VOID.

It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all details of the bet are correct on the receipt issued before leaving the counter. Bets will be settled as per the instructions written on the betting slip and recorded at the time of acceptance. No alterations, verbal or written to the printed receipt after it has been processed, will be taken into account for settling purposes. Any returns on a bet will be paid upon presentation of the receipt. The receipt accepted by the customer for a written or mark sense slip will always take precedence over the submitted slip. Bets will be settled according to the total stake paid and shown on the receipt irrespective of the stakes written against individual selections.

The Company reserves the right to suspend betting on any particular market at any time, and also reserves the right to decline the whole or any part of any bet.

5.Time Of Acceptance

  1. Shops with EPOS will accept bets on all events until the automated “off slip” is activated. Unless express authorisation has been given any single bets placed after the off will be VOID. In multiple bets late selections will be considered non runners.

  2. Shops without EPOS will manually process an “off slip” through the till and security camera and any bet taken in error after the “off slip” has been processed will be declared VOID. In multiple bets late selections will be considered non runners.

Should an “off slip” not be processed for whatever reason bets will stand as long as they were placed before the advertised start time of the event. Bets placed after this time will be VOID, unless the Company is satisfied they were placed before the actual start of the event.

  1. Bets placed after the off will normally be void except :

  1. Where there is betting in running, in which case the in-running odds at the time the bet was placed will be applied;

  2. In football matches where bets will stand if placed up to 5 minutes after kick-off provided no significant events such as a goal or sending off has occurred ;

  3. In other long-running events (such as golf or tennis) where no team or player has gained an advantage and the bet is placed within 15 minutes of the commencement of the event.

6.Related Bets

Multiple bets are not accepted where the outcomes are related. Related means that if the outcome of one event is correct the outcome of the other event wagered upon becomes more likely to happen. For example the same football team to win an FA Cup fourth round match and to win the Cup itself . Similarly the same horse to win both the 2000 Guineas and the Derby.

Related bets accepted in error will have the stake equally divided as singles on the individual selections as written at the individual odds available at the time the bet was placed.

Special Double prices are often available upon request for popular events. For example a single price may be quoted for a Premier League football team to win the League and FA Cup or a single price may be quoted for a horse to win two Classics.

7.Settlement Of Bets

  1. Unless a show or early price is requested, all bets on horse and greyhound racing are settled at Starting Price. The place part of each way bets will be settled as per the following PLACE TERMS:

Non-handicaps Handicaps

WIN ONLY 2-4 runners WIN ONLY

1/4 odds 1, 2 5-7 runners 1/4 odds 1, 2

1/5 odds 1, 2, 3 8-11 runners 1/5 odds 1, 2, 3

1/5 odds 1, 2, 3 12-15 runners 1/4 odds 1, 2, 3

1/5 odds 1, 2, 3 16 + runners 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4

  1. For the purpose of calculation, Each Way doubles, trebles etc. are two distinct bets i.e. win on to win, place on to place. In the case of horse or greyhound racing, bets may be settled as Equally Divided if this is clearly requested.

  2. Should a Starting Price not be returned, all bets at SP will be settled at the prices broadcast on the final SIS show for the event in question.

  3. Place only bets are not accepted unless specifically advertised. In win and place bets, the win part of the stake must equal or exceed the place part. Any place stake inadvertently accepted in excess of the win stake will be VOID- win or lose.

  4. Bets are settled to Win unless Each Way is clearly stated. If an Each Way bet is placed for a race or event which is Win Only, the total stake will be invested to win.

  5. If a horse or greyhound selection is requested but both name and number are given but do not correspond, the name will take precedence over the number. Where the wrong odds are applied to named or numbered selections, the named or numbered selections will take precedence in the settlement of the bet, over the odds.

  6. In the case of a Dead Heat, the amount staked will be divided by the number of runners involved in the Dead Heat. The full odds are then paid to the divided stake, with the remainder of the stake being lost.

  7. If a selection is withdrawn or is a non runner, then in single bets the stake will be returned as VOID. In accumulative bets the stake will run on to the remaining selection(s) with a double becoming a single, a treble becoming a double and so on.

  8. In horseracing, once the weigh-in has been declared on the day of the race, the result at this time will determine the settlement of bets. Any subsequent amendment to the result will be disregarded for betting purposes.

8.Show Prices (Including Early Prices).

  1. Show prices as transmitted via the LBO service may be taken in all races with three or more runners. When a show price is taken, it will apply to that selection in all bets on the slip unless indicated otherwise.

  2. Each Way bets at show prices are governed by the S.P place betting terms detailed above and determined by the number of actual starters and not by the number of runners when the price was laid.

  3. Customers wishing to take a show price must stipulate this when placing the bet otherwise the Company reserves the right to settle the bet at Starting Price.

  4. Should an incorrect price be given in error by a member of staff, the bet will be settled at the correct price at the time of acceptance, or, in the case of horse or greyhound bets, at starting price, whichever is the greater.

  5. Should a horse be withdrawn which will result in a reduction under Tattersalls Rule 4 (c), no show price can be laid after the time of withdrawal until the market has been reformed. Any bets struck after a non-runner is announced but prior to a new market being formed will be settled at the starting price. Should a greyhound be withdrawn all show prices laid prior to withdrawal will be settled at Starting Price. No show prices can be laid until a reformed market is transmitted.

  6. Early Prices are offered on horse or greyhound races as advertised and will be available up to the time stated (usually 30 Minutes prior to the advertised off time of the race). If an Early Price is laid after this time it will stand provided no show of betting has been transmitted from the course. All Early prices are subject to fluctuation and therefore the price offered may differ from that originally displayed or published in the morning press.

  7. Should a horse be withdrawn from an Early Price race, stakes on that selection will be returned, with bets on other runners in the race subject to a deduction in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4(c).

9.Incorrect Spelling, Staking And Ambiguous Bet Instructions

Customers must ensure that their betting instructions are legible and comprehensible, however where instructions are incorrect or ambiguous, the bet will be settled according to our rules.

  1. Should a named selection be incorrectly timed, or incorrectly numbered, the bet will stand for the race in which the named selection actually runs.

  2. Should a selection be wrongly spelt, the bet will stand provided that only one runner could possibly be intended. However, where the selection requested combines the names of two or more runners then the stake will be equally divided between the runners concerned.

  3. Should a show price be written next to an ambiguously named selection, the price will determine the intention.

  4. UNDERSTAKED BETS. Should a bet be understaked, the total return on the slip will be proportioned by the amount underpaid thereby reducing any return due. (I.e the return will be multiplied by the amount actually paid and then divided by the amount that should have been paid).

  5. OVERSTAKED BETS. Should a bet be overstaked based on the bet instruction, the overstaked amount will be apportioned to the return on the whole of the bet. (I.e. the return will be multiplied by the amount actually paid and then divided by the amount that should have been staked).

  6. TOO FEW SELECTIONS. Should a customer place a bet containing too few selections, it will be settled as a full cover bet on those selections and a proportionate amount paid. (For example a 40p Yankee with only three selections will be settled as a full cover bet on three selections, namely a £1.10 Trixie).

  7. TOO MANY SELECTIONS. Should a customer place a bet containing too many selections it will be settled as a full cover bet on those selections and a proportionate amount paid. (For example a 10p Yankee with five selections will be settled as a full cover bet on those selections, namely a Canadian with a reduced unit stake).

  8. INCORRECT INSTRUCTIONS. Should the instructions on a slip be duplicated e.g. 6 doubles, 4 doubles on four selections, the bet will be settled as the customer obviously intended as 6 doubles and 4 trebles. However, should a customer instruct 5 x 30p win doubles on four selections, the bet will be settled on the correct number of doubles to proportionate stakes i.e. 6 x 25p win doubles.

  9. Should instructions indicate an intention for a Through The Card

but stake for fewer races than there are on the programme, then the stake will be apportioned to cover all of the races. Should the bet be staked for more races than scheduled the overstaked amount shall be apportioned.

  1. Should a multiple bet be placed where two or more selections run

in the same race, stakes will be equally divided where the selections clash. For example, if a customer stipulates a £2 win Trixie on selections A, B and C with selections A and B being in the same race, the bet will be settled £1 win A, £1 win B, £2 double AC, £2 double BC, and the treble becomes 2x £1 win doubles AC and BC. Should two selections be nominated in a double and both run in the same race, the bet will be settled as a straight forecast if a win double is requested and a reversed forecast if an each way double is requested.

  1. Should the same selection be nominated more than once in a

multiple or accumulative bet, the duplicated selection will be considered a runner only once and a non-runner subsequently.

  1. Should the meeting and/or the time be stipulated but no selection

specified, the bet will be settled on the Favourite in the race stated unless it is clear by the indication of a word such as “trap” or “no.” that a specific selection was intended. In this case the bet will be treated as a non runner.

  1. Should no instructions be given next to a single selection, the bet

will be settled as a win single. Where two or more selections are involved, the stake will be divided equally and invested as a win full cover bet. Where there are no instructions and all selections are in the same race, the stake will be divided as Reverse or Combination forecasts.

  1. A named selection will always take precedence over a race card

number.

  1. Should there be any doubt as to whether a forecast bet or tricast bet

is intended and the staking for either happens to be the same, in all cases the bet will be settled as a forecast.

10. Incorrectly Timed/ Untimed Bets.

In bets which contain a named selection, that selection will stand irrespective of whether it has been incorrectly timed or numbered. For horse and greyhound bets containing unnamed selections (i.e. favourites and numbered selections), the following will apply:-

    1. UNTIMED/ INCORRECTLY TIMED. Should a selection be untimed or incorrectly timed but a meeting stated, the bet will be settled on the next race to be run at the specified meeting after the time of acceptance. Should a selection be timed for a race that has already been run, the bet will be settled on the next race to go off at the nominated meeting. In accumulative bets the selection will be deemed VOID.

    2. TIME GIVEN- NO MEETING. Bets stand for the race timed. Should the time of the race clash with other races (horses, greyhounds or virtual) with the same advertised off time, the stake will be equally divided across those races covered by the full LBO service. Should a bet be timed for a meeting not taking place that day, the bet shall be taken as being for a meeting with a race taking place at that time on the day the bet is struck.

    3. NO MEETING GIVEN- NO TIME. Should a selection be untimed or incorrectly timed with no meeting nominated, single bets will be settled on the next advertised horse or greyhound race covered by the full LBO service after the bet has been struck. Should the word TRAP or “T” precede a numbered selection without instructions, the bet will be deemed to be for greyhound racing and will therefore be settled on the next greyhound race even if there is a horse race off earlier. In the case of doubles and other multiple bets the selection(s) will be deemed VOID.

    4. TIME + MEETING GIVEN- NO SELECTION. Should a time and meeting be nominated but no selection given, the bet will be deemed VOID and settled as a non-runner.

11. Forecast Betting.

  1. Forecasts are accepted for horse or greyhound races of 3 or more

runners. In horse races, bets are settled as Straight Forecasts (i.e. selections to finish 1st and 2nd in the correct order) in accordance with the Computer Straight Forecast return, as broadcast by the LBO service provider. In BAGS greyhound races all forecasts are settled using the Computer Straight Forecast Return. In other greyhound races the NSL Chart straight forecast dividend will be used. Reversed Forecasts (i.e. selections to finish 1st and 2nd in either order) are accepted also. Instructions for reversed forecasts with only one stake invested will be settled as a reversed forecast with the stake divided. Should there be no official Starting Price returned for a race, all forecast wagers on that race will be deemed VOID.

b. Forecasts inadvertently accepted in races with only 2 runners will be settled as a win single at starting price on the selection

nominated to finish 1st.

c. Should a horse finish alone, all forecast bets nominating that horse

to finish first will be settled as a win single at Starting Price.

All other forecast bets in the race are lost.

d. Should a non runner be selected in a forecast, the bet will be settled

as a win single on the remaining selection. In reversed or combination bets each forecast is treated separately.

e. Forecast bets are not accepted containing unnamed favourites. Such bets will be deemed VOID win or lose.

f. Should a forecast bet be placed and the 2 selections are in different races, the total stake will be divided equally and placed as win singles on each selection.

g. In the event of a Dead Heat, separate dividends will be declared and paid to each qualifying forecast to the unit stake.

h. Forecast doubles and trebles are accepted (including in Patents and Trixies). However, forecast accumulators are not accepted and

where taken in error will be deemed VOID.

12. Tricasts

    1. Tricasts are accepted on all horse race Handicaps with 8 or more declared runners provided at least 6 run and on all BAGS greyhound races. Other races may sometimes be advertised. Winning tricasts (i.e. successfully nominating the first 3 to finish in the correct order) will be paid according to the official Computer Tricast Return, declared to a £1 stake.

    2. Should a Tricast be placed on a race where no Tricast is in operation, the bet will be settled as a Computer Straight Forecast on the first two nominated selections.

    3. Should a Tricast contain a non runner, the bet will be settled as a forecast on the remaining two selections in the order stated. In the event of a Tricast containing 2 non runners the bet will be settled as a win single on the remaining selection.

    4. In the event of dead heats, separate dividends will be declared and paid to each qualifying Tricast.

    5. Tricasts are accepted as singles only. Should a Tricast multiple be accepted in error, the total stake will be divided equally and settled as Tricast singles.

    6. Tricast bets are not accepted containing unnamed favourites. Such bets will be deemed VOID, win or lose.

13. Favourite Betting.

  1. Bets nominating the favourite are accepted on horse or greyhound races at Starting Price only. Show prices may not be taken.

  2. The favourite is the runner returned at the shortest odds. Should two or more runners start at the same shortest odds, the stake will be divided equally across the Joint or Co favourites created.

  3. Bets accepted for first and second favourites in horse racing are win only. Each way bets taken in error will have the total stake invested to win.

  4. Should the favourite be withdrawn before the start of a race but still be returned the favourite, then bets on that favourite are VOID.

14. Ante Post Betting (Future Events).

  1. In horse racing Ante-Post bets are accepted prior to the final declaration stage. Bets are accepted on the basis All in, Run or Not, Entered or Not. Stakes are lost on an ante post bets if a selection does not take part. No Tattersalls Rule 4 deductions are made from winning Ante-Post bets.

  2. Should a race be postponed to another day and overnight declarations stand, then Ante-Post bets stand. However, single Ante-Post bets on horse racing will be made void and any selection involved in accumulative bets will be deemed a non runner if :-

    • The race is abandoned.

    • The race is officially declared void or re-opened for new entries.

    • The conditions of the race are altered after bets are made (as defined under Tattersalls rules).

    • The venue is altered.

    • The selection is balloted out under the Rules of Racing.

  3. Ante-Post bets are settled at the price and place terms applicable at the time of acceptance. Should an incorrect price or place terms be given in error the Company reserves the right to settle bets at the correct price/ place terms available at the time the bet was struck.

  4. Place only bets, conditional bets and First Past the Post bets are not accepted ante-post. If taken in error such bets will be deemed VOID.

  5. Lucky 15/31/63 and other special bets are not available at ante-post odds. Any taken in error will be settled without any bonuses or consolations.

15. HORSE RACING: Withdrawals

Should a horse be withdrawn prior to the start of a race (other than Ante-Post selections), or be deemed by the starter to have taken no part in the race, stakes will be returned on the withdrawn horse and winning bets will be subject to deductions in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4(c). The rate of deduction will be based on the following scale:-

1/9 or shorter 90p Evens to 6/5 45p

2/11 to 2/17 85p 5/4 to 6/4 40p

1/4 to 1/5 80p 13/8 to 7/4 35p

3/10 to 2/7 75p 15/8 to 9/4 30p

2/5 to 1/3 70p 5/2 to 3/1 25p

8/15 to 4/9 65p 10/3 to 4/1 20p

8/13 to 4/7 60p 9/2 to 11/2 15p

4/5 to 4/6 55p 6/1 to 9/1 10p

20/21 to 5/6 50p 10/1 to 14/1 5p

Over 14/1 no deduction

Should two or more horses be withdrawn prior to the start of a race the total R4 deduction will not exceed 90p in the £.

Should a horse be withdrawn and a new market formed, any bets laid at “show” prices prior to the new show will be subject to Rule 4 deductions as shown above. In the event of a further withdrawal after the market has been reformed, bets placed at “show” prices from the original market will be subject to a further deduction based on the price of the withdrawn horse in the original market. Bets placed on the new market will be subject to a deduction based on the current price.

Tattersalls Rule 4 (c) will also apply in the case of non-runners in Early Price races and any other events where it is specifically advertised that such deductions will apply.

16. Tote Betting

  1. Shops which have a Tote Direct terminal accept the range of tote bets as agents for the Tote. Bets should be placed using official Tote Direct marksense slips and will be subject to the rules of the Tote.

  2. Offices which do not have a Tote Direct terminal accept the following bets at Tote returns subject to the Company’s General Rules: win, each-way, exacta and placepots. The word TOTE must be clearly written on the betting slip otherwise in all cases bets will be settled at S.P.

  3. Offices which do not have a Tote Direct terminal do not accept the official Tote Jackpot, Scoop 6, Trifecta or Place only bets. Any such bets taken in error will be declared VOID- win or lose.

  4. Bets on unnamed Favourites are not accepted at Tote returns.

  5. Tote bets on Irish horseracing are only accepted by shops which have a Tote Direct terminal and must be placed using a marksense slip.

17. Rules For Foreign And Overseas Horse Racing.

Due to the varied nature of racing abroad customers are advised to check any variation of rules when placing a wager on an overseas race:-

  1. In countries where there is no Starting Price market in operation (e.g. France, U.S.A and Dubai), a show price may be taken on bets when the LBO service provides an industry betting show.

  2. In countries which operate a pool betting system, customers have the option to stipulate “Pari Mutuel” odds if they prefer. This should be authorised by a member of staff. These returns are effectively the foreign Tote dividends. Pari Mutuel dividends are declared inclusive of the unit stake and betting is accepted on Win, Place and Forecast wagers.

  3. COUPLING: Horses in the same ownership are often coupled for betting purposes in many countries which operate a pool betting system. Coupling normally only applies to the win pool although in some countries horses are coupled in all pools and coupling may occur for reasons other than ownership.

  4. Unnamed favourites are not accepted at Pari Mutuel odds and if taken in error will be declared VOID, win or lose.

  5. Should a customer not request an Early Price, a Show Price, or Pari Mutuel odds, bets will be settled at the UK Industry SP. In the event of no Industry SP being returned, settlement will be at PMU returns.

18. Greyhound Racing

Greyhound bets are accepted for all B.A.G.S meetings and any other meeting when the card is printed in the Racing Post. Any bets taken in error for other greyhound meetings will be deemed void, win or lose.

  1. Bets are accepted for unnamed First favourites, WIN ONLY. Unnamed Second or Third favourites are not accepted and when taken in error will be deemed VOID. Should an each way bet be placed on an unnamed greyhound favourite, the entire stake will be invested to win.

  2. Should a reserve dog run from a trap number selected by a customer, this will be deemed to be the selection. Should a named dog not run, the selection will be deemed VOID even if its place is taken by a reserve.

  3. Should a customer select a trap number which becomes vacant (i.e. from which no dog runs), that selection will be treated as a non runner in singles, doubles and other multiple bets.

  4. Should a customer write down both the name and trap number of a greyhound, if each refers to a different selection the name will take precedence.

  5. Bets on greyhound racing are not accepted at Tote odds. Any such bets taken in error will be settled at Starting Price.

  6. In the event of a greyhound being withdrawn from a race on which there was an Early Price market displayed, all bets taken at Early Prices will revert to Starting Price.

  7. Should a greyhound race be declared void and then be re-run, all bets will stand but single bets may be cancelled by mutual agreement should the customer request this prior to the re-run. Starting Prices returned on the re-run will govern settlement. Any show prices laid on void races will not be valid for the re-run and such bets will be settled at S.P.

  8. Should a greyhound race be declared void and not be re-run, all selections will be treated as non runners.

19. FOOTBALL BETTING

For betting purposes the Company divides football into two categories. Category A football consists of the higher profile leagues and competitions and therefore carries a higher maximum payout limit than football bets placed on matches from the lower, less prestigious leagues (Category B).

Category A football comprises: English Premier League

Scottish Premier League from these divs

Champions League

UEFA Cup

World Cup

Category B football comprises: Conference National Division

Scottish Divisions 1,2 and 3

Top flight European Leagues :

Ligue 1 (France)

Eredivisie (Holland)

Primera Division (Spain)

20. Acceptance of Bets.

  1. All odds are subject to fluctuation and amendment and bets are settled on the result at the end of normal play unless otherwise stated. The term normal play is used to denote the 90 minute period plus any stoppage time for injury and other interruptions to play but not scheduled extra time, penalty shoot-outs etc. Unless otherwise stated, normal play will be the basis of settlement for all games including Cup games.

  2. In Cup competitions odds for an outright win (i.e. the match result after extra-time or a penalty shoot-out) may be offered in addition to odds for the result at the end of normal play. In all cases the odds recorded on the slip by the member of staff will determine for which market the bet was intended.

  3. Settlement of football bets will be at the price prevailing at the time the bet was placed irrespective of any pre-printed odds shown on a coupon. Every effort will be made to bring price changes to the attention of customers but this cannot be guaranteed.

  4. Selections must be indicated as follows: “1” to denote a home win, “2” to denote an away win and “x” to denote a draw. In the event of a match being played on a neutral ground, for coupon marking purposes the team printed on the left will be regarded as the home side.

  5. Bets placed after the kick-off will normally be VOID except :

      1. Where there is betting in running, in which case the in-running odds at the time the bet was placed will be applied ;

      2. In football matches where bets will stand if placed up to 5 minutes after kick-off provided no significant events such as a goal or sending off has occurred.

  1. Should a team be scheduled to play more than once during the same week, bets which do not nominate the date of the match or the name of the opposing side will settled on the match which takes place first.

  2. Staking instructions must be written clearly. Should a customer complete a line on a coupon but neglect to enter the stake for that line, the bet will remain valid so long as provision has been made for that line within the total stake. If provision has not been made for that line within the total stake, the line concerned will be VOID. For mark sense slips, the slip instructions take precedence over any other method of marking selections used by the customer.

  3. Should a number of teams be listed without specific instructions, the bet will be settled as an accumulator.

21. Minimum/Maximum Selections

  1. Singles and upwards are accepted on all matches listed on any of the Company’s Individual Odds Coupons with the exception of the Australian coupon. The Australian coupon must be trebles and upwards. Should fewer than three selections be chosen on an Australian coupon the bet will be deemed VOID.

  2. On lists such as the Sections List customers may be required to make a set number of selections in order to achieve the minimum guaranteed odds/returns. However, incomplete lists will stand and will be settled at the cumulative odds from the individual matches concerned.

  3. There is no maximum limit to the number of selections that may be chosen.

22. Postponed or Abandoned Matches.

  1. An unplayed, postponed or abandoned match will be treated as a “non runner” for settling purposes unless it is played during the same football week (Monday to Monday), in which case the bet will stand unless cancelled by mutual consent.

  2. Should an accumulator be reduced by non runners, the remaining selections will stand for settling purposes.

  3. Should a match be played prior to the date or kick off time advertised, bets on the match will stand provided the wager was accepted before the actual kick off time.

  4. Any football match abandoned before the completion of “normal play” will be deemed VOID with the exception of those bets for which the outcome has already been determined (e.g. First Goalscorer, Time of first goal etc).

  5. Under no circumstances will the judgement of any Pools Panel be accepted as a result in the case of postponed matches when settling bets.

  6. Should the venue of a match be reversed the selection will be VOID as will any selection in a match played on a neutral ground if this differs from the venue listed on the coupon. If a team plays a different opponent to the one printed on the coupon, the selection will be VOID.

23. Correct Score Betting

On all football matches customers may place bets predicting the correct score at the end of normal play. Odds are displayed on screen or on special charts displayed in shop. Own goals count for score purposes. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs do not count.

24. First/Last Player To Score

  1. Every effort will be made to quote First/Last Player to score odds for all possible participants. However, players not originally quoted will count as winners should they score the first/last goal. Bets on players not taking part in the match will be VOID as will bets on the “first player to score” where the selection comes on after the first goal has been scored. All players who take part in a match will be considered “runners” for “last player to score” purposes.

  2. Should there be any doubt as to whether the bet is intended for the first or last player to score, in all cases the bet will be settled on the first goalscorer.

  3. First/Last player to score bets are accepted on “normal play” only.

  4. First/Last player to score bets are settled in accordance with the players named by the Press Association (PA) immediately after the match has finished. Any subsequent amendments to Press Association records will not count.

  5. Should the PA not make available the names of first/last goalscorers for matches played abroad, settlement will be based on the player credited with the goal by FIFA.com immediately after the game. Again, subsequent amendments will not count.

  6. Standard each way terms for first goalscorer betting is 1/3 odds 1-2-3-4-5.

25. Anytime Goalscorers

  1. In certain matches an “anytime Goalscorer” market will be priced up. Customers can then select a player to score a goal at any time (during normal play).

  2. Only players who start a match will be considered “runners”.

  3. In multiple bets, non runners will be VOID and bets will be settled on the remaining selections. Stakes will be refunded as VOID for non runner singles.

  4. Own goals are disregarded when settling all “goalscorer” bets.

26. Scorecast Bets.

(Otherwise known as First Goalscorer/Correct Score Doubles).

  1. Customers should nominate a player to score the first goal and the score they predict at the end of normal play. Bets will be settled at the special double price advertised on screen or printed on odds charts displayed in shop.

  2. Should a nominated player not play or come on after the first goal is scored, the bet will be settled on the nominated correct score at the appropriate single odds. If the only goals in a match are own goals, all bets will be settled as singles on the selected correct score at the appropriate odds.

  3. Should a match be abandoned after a goal has been scored, all Scorecast bets will be settled as singles on the first goal scorer at the appropriate odds.

  4. Should the name of the team be omitted, with no qualifying price laid, in all cases settlement will be based on the nominated first goalscorer’s team to win.

  5. Scorecasts are also available for Last Goalscorer and correct score predictions. These should be written as such and will be settled to the same odds as standard Scorecasts.

  6. Bets containing correct score predictions are always taken to mean that the first named score is for the home team and the second for the away team, irrespective of which team may be named.

27. Half-Time/Full-Time Double Result

  1. Bets must predict the result at half-time (home, draw, away) and the end of normal time (home, draw, away). Extra time and penalty shoot-outs do not count. Odds are displayed on screen or listed on the Company’s special HT/FT chart.

  2. Bets will be VOID if a match is abandoned.

  3. Half-time/full-time bets are not accepted on Australian football and if taken in error will be declared VOID.

28. Handicap List

  1. For the purpose of deciding results on the Handicap List, a number of goals (or half-goals) is added to, or subtracted from the total goals scored by the away team. Settlement on the Handicap List will be at the special odds shown alongside its matches, using the actual score in the match adjusted for the “handicap”.

  2. Where the wrong handicap is written (i.e. +1 rather than -1) but the correct odds are taken, then bets will be settled at the correct handicap, rather than at odds which reflect the wrong handicap. Should no odds be taken, the bet will be VOID, win or lose.

29. Divisional Betting

In divisional betting, the finishing position of teams at the end of the scheduled programme of matches will determine placings with no allowance for play-offs or subsequent enquiries by the respective leagues.

30. Betting In Play.

  1. Next Goal Scorer: In selected matches a market may be available during play for the next player to score. Bets will be settled as VOID should the selected player not participate. Bets will also be VOID if the match is abandoned before a goal is scored. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs do not count.

  2. Team to Score first/second/next goal: For settlement purposes own goals count to the side credited with the goal.

31. Managers To Lose Their Position.

Odds may be quoted for managers to lose their position by the end of the season. The end of the season is defined as the time at which the League programme has been completed. In the case of leagues other than the Premier League this includes any play-off matches that take place.

32. Sports Betting-General

Bets are accepted on all sporting events for which we offer odds. The following points cover sports betting generally but customers should also consult the Company’s separate “Sports Betting” Rules chart for rules relating to individual sports.

  1. Unless specific reference is made in our rules which cover a particular sport, settlement will be based on the official competition rules.

  2. Sports betting is based on the period of “normal play” and settled accordingly. Extra time does not count unless specifically advertised.

  3. Bets on sporting events that are abandoned or postponed will be deemed VOID unless the event takes place during the same sporting week (Mon-Mon).

  4. In sporting events where prices are available for both outright win and with a handicap, unless the handicap has been clearly requested all bets will be settled on the outright market.

  5. In sports betting, when two teams or players are named, the selection is deemed to be the team or player next to which the stake is written, regardless of how any handicap has been applied.

  6. Once a medals ceremony or a podium presentation has taken place at the end of a sporting event, these placings will determine settlement for betting purposes. Any subsequent amendments or disqualifications will be disregarded for betting purposes.

  7. Place terms on sports betting are those which were relevant at the time the bet was placed.

  8. The Company reserves the right to VOID a bet that breaches our rules or those of a sports governing body.

33. Numbers Betting.

  1. Bets are accepted up to the official start time of the stated draw. Should the Company not be satisfied that a bet has been placed prior to the actual start time, the bet will stand for the next such event.

  2. Should for any reason a draw or numbers event not take place, bets will stand for the next such draw or numbers event unless cancelled by mutual consent.

  3. Numbers bets will always be settled on the first such draw or event after acceptance unless clearly specified otherwise. Should more than one draw or event be selected, bets will be settled on the next such consecutive draws or events to take place. Should a specified draw already have taken place that day, the bet will be settled on the next such draw to take place.

  4. Should a number be illegible or “above the field” (that is to say a higher number than the highest number that could possibly be drawn in a given event), that selection will be disregarded and deemed a non runner for settlement purposes. In multiple bets, should such a selection be included, the remainder of the selected numbers will stand and be settled at the appropriate odds for the number of valid selections for the event in question. (e.g: In doubles, the rogue selection will be disregarded with the remaining number being settled as a single at the appropriate single odds for the event in question. In trebles, the rogue selection will be disregarded with the remaining two numbers being settled as a double at the appropriate double odds for the event in question and so on).

  5. Unless clearly specified, bets on numbers events will be deemed not to include any bonus number or selection that may be drawn.

34. Social Responsibility

  3. Customers may choose to “self -exclude” if they have a gambling problem. (See section 35).

35. Self-Exclusion

Should a customer wish to be self-excluded from our premises, he/she should complete a “self-exclusion” form which can be obtained from any member of staff or the shop manager. Details provided by the customer will be recorded in the strictest confidence. By completing a form a customer is excluding him/herself from entering the premises and from receiving any marketing materials for a period of a minimum of 6 months up to a maximum of at least 5 years.
